On the approximately 330 km long coastline you will find countless sandy beaches lined with palm trees. Another advantage are the coral reefs that surround the island and which have created great lagoons suitable for swimming and snorkeling. Thanks to the pleasant weather all year round, you can swim here at any time. The ideal period is from November to April. From July to September, temperatures may be slightly lower.
North coast of Mauritius
Donʹt miss the beaches of the north coast especially if you are a lover of water sports. You can try everything from windsurfing, sailing to deep sea fishing. There is also a great selection of bars and restaurants near the beaches.
1. Trou aux Biches
This beach will be medicine for your soul. It is sought after for its crystal clear water and amazing resorts. You will definitely not make a mistake with sunbathing, as well as family and children will enjoy their time here perfectly.
2. Mont Choisy
In addition to being the longest and one of the most beautiful beaches called Mont Choisy, it is located near the airport. It often becomes a popular transit stop. A glittering water surface and a breathtaking water world await you here. The surrounding area is beautified with Casuarina trees.
3. La Cuvette
Compared to other beaches, La Cuvette is quite small, but it certainly does not detract from its attractiveness. Its main advantage is the ubiquitous peace. Loners longing for a moment of silence can enjoy the view of the clear water, whose appearance is completed by boulders and interestingly shaped cliffs.
4. Grand Bay Public Beach
It is located near the lively coastal village of Grand Bay. This place is suitable for everyone who needs a little action. Lovers of water sports and adrenaline will feel fantastic here, and it is also possible to arrange a boat trip here. Of course, there are various restaurants.
Romantic sunsets are something for you? Then you should definitely visit Pereybere beach. Its typical atmosphere is completed by fast food stalls, so don’t forget to order a local specialty for the evening enjoyment.
East coast of Mauritius
The east is not developed like the north, so you won’t find as many hotels or beach facilities here. The advantage is its wilder nature and, of course, less crowded beaches.
6. Blue Bay
This beach is a clean and untouched place, whose turquoise water is surrounded by lush greenery. There is definitely no shortage of great views here. It is located near the port city of Mehebourg and is also known for the marine park of the same name. This is a great destination for snorkeling trips.
7. Belle Mare
The white sand and calm water of this relatively long beach make it a great place for walks, running and other sports activities.
South coast of Mauritius
The southern part of the island is characterized by cliffs, on which the approaching waves break. Together with the surrounding nature, you can look forward to truly dramatic and picturesque views.
8. Riviere des Galets
According to people with cameras, you will know that this place is really worth a visit. The shiny stones lining the beach look like a work of art that is taken to an even higher level by a large lagoon of dark sand. Just sit here and recharge your batteries.
9. St Felix

As we have already written, the south coast is not one of the quietest, so you’d better forget about swimming due to the powerful sea currents.
10. Gris Gris
You will come to the Gris Gris beach from the village of Souillac. It will especially please tourist enthusiasts, who will first enjoy a pleasant walk and then a view of the blue surface.
West coast of Mauritius
The beaches in the west of the island are probably among the most popular. Mainly pictures from Tamarin and Le Morne are known all over the world. The local wind conditions, in turn, make surfing lovers happy.
11. Flic en Flac
Flic en Flac is one of the longer beaches on the island. Thanks to the coral reef, it offers excellent conditions for swimming and watching breathtaking sunsets.
You will find it near Tamarin Village, a beautiful village surrounded by hills. According to locals and tourists, it is the most beautiful beach ever, so you should definitely visit this place. Black sand and perfect waves add to its attractiveness, which is especially appreciated by surfers. Turquoise water sometimes attract dolphins.
13. Le Morne
Looking at Le Morne beach, located under a huge mountain of the same name, you will probably think that once you have enough sunbathing, you can go and go on the treks offered by this peak.
