Top 10 Most Beautiful Beaches in Greece (our tips)

White sand, blue lagoons and great weather almost all year round. Greece has everything you could expect from your ideal seaside holiday. However, where should one go to experience something truly unique? Our list might help you choose the perfect spot just for you. We have selected the top 10 most beautiful Greek beaches

1. Navagio, Zakynthos

Possibly the most famous and most photogenic beach in Greece is situated on the island of Zakynthos. Crystal clear water, pure white sand and steep rocky cliffs. All one needs is a wreck of a pirate ship. But wait, there it is!

2. Myrtos, Kefalonia

The road leading to this beach is quite steep but the journey is well worth it. You will be rewarded with a stunning curving beach, surrounded by tall jagged cliffs. These make the Myrtos beach the most spectacular on the whole island.

3. Porto Katsiki, Lefkada

Various travel guides will tell you that the best month to enjoy this beach is September, because in summer, it gets pretty overcrowded. It is no surprise really, the white limestone rocks emerging from the sea captivate the heart of every tourist. And if you wish to experience something truly unique, take a trip to the Kratas Lighthouse on the island’s southernmost point. You will be able to enjoy one of the most beautiful views Greece can offer.

4. Simos, Elafonisos

The locals will tell you that the Simos beach on the tiny island of Elafonisos is by far the most beautiful beach in the whole of Greece. See for yourself. The sandy dunes and unique flora of this island make for a truly electrifying atmosphere.

5. Elafonisi, Crete

Pink sand and crystal-clear shallow water. This is in a nutshell one of the most beautiful beaches on the island of Crete. It is often called the Pacific of the Mediterranean Sea.

6. Lindos, Rhodes

If you have visited the island of Rhodes before, you will have surely heard about Lindos. Its beach is firmly tied to Greek history – when you swim or snorkel in the crystal-clear water, you can at the same time admire the view of an ancient temple dating back to the 4th century AD. And this is a view of the beach from the beautiful temple:

7. Balos Lagoon, Crete

A beach or not a beach? Perhaps we can agree that it certainly is a stunning place that connects Crete with the tiny island of Imeri Gramvousa. The shallow waters of the Balos lagoon are warmed by the sun and there are several naturally formed rock pools as well. Our tip: if you decide to travel here by car or take an early morning boat, you will have the whole beach to yourself – the first tourist boat only arrives after lunch!

8. Paradise, Mykonos

The name hints at what you can expect from this place. A lot of swimming, sunbathing and having fun until the early hours of the morning. This place is popular with younger tourists. If you are a party animal and love the beach, make sure you definitely pay a visit to this place!

9. Red Beach, Santorini

You absolutely must visit this beach on Santorini! The volcanic origins of this island have created a beach with attractive reddish sand, though black and grey hues can be seen too. Find your favourite shade!

10. Paleokastritsa, Corfu

We wrap up the top ten with a gem which, at first glance, does not resemble Greece much. Almost unspoiled nature, turquoise sea, romantic hideaways and the best bit: The Blue Eye Cave. You can appreciate all this when you visit Paleokastritsa.
